About Dr. Raymond at Open Arms OB/GYN

Dr. Elin Raymond, MD FRCSC is a Royal College certified specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology. In addition to her specialist training, she has completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery. Dr. Raymond has a particular interest in fertility and Minimally Invasive fertility-enhancing surgery.  She is affiliated with the Hannam Fertility center but works with fertility clinics across the GTA to help patients and families achieve their fertility goals.


In addition to General OB/GYN services, Dr. Raymond offers fertility assessments, ovulation induction, and fertility enhancing surgery including advanced hysteroscopic procedures for Asherman’s and complex uterine malformations.  She understands the complex counselling that is so essential in providing inclusive and compassionate care to individuals facing fertility issues.


Dr. Raymond graduated from the Dalhousie Medical school in 1997, and completed her residency first in Family Medicine and then in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Toronto in 2003. She then went on to complete a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Toronto with a focus on advanced laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, laser surgery, and endometriosis.


Dr. Raymond started as a staff Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Michael Garron Hospital in 2005. She is also a Lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Toronto and is actively involved in teaching midwife students, medical students and residents.


Dr. Raymond still loves getting up at night to help families with the birth of their child. She also believes in a collaborative birth culture where patient centered care is at the forefront. She developed the Michael Garron Policy on skin-to-skin at time of cesarean section and is involved in education, advocacy and research in this area. She is on the Quality Assurance and Safety committee for the Toronto Birth Center.
